Destination Yoga combines top-class instruction with beautiful locations and accommodation.
Tucked away in the Algarve’s lush green hills, Monchique Resort and Spa is a brand new all-suite hotel with sleek, contemporary styling and extensive facilities and services. Yoga is central to the spa with both group and private classes on offer. The classes take place in the light and bright yoga shala or if you’re keen to connect with your gorgeous surroundings, your mat can be taken into the garden for one to one sessions.
Throughout the hotel you are spoilt with wonderful vistas to help you feel like you’ve really escaped for your holiday. There is a strong focus on wellbeing and guests can enjoy complimentary daily fitness and wellness classes (approx. 6 per day).
If after a few days relaxing you’d like to explore, you can take a taxi journey down to the local beach. With a long stretch of golden coastline it’s the perfect place to enjoy the 300 days of sunshine that Portugal has to offer. You can even enjoy a spot of lunch at the beach café or, if you’re feeling adventurous, book a surf or paddle board lesson.
When staying at the all-suites Monchique Resort & Spa you really feel a sense of space, with vast green gardens, sensational views, indoor and outdoor pools and plenty of quiet spots to enjoy some ‘me-time’. The hotel’s spacious suites, all designed with a neutral colour scheme, allow you to have your own private sanctuary to retreat to after your yoga class. When you arrive make use of the airy living room with a complimentary tea or coffee or breathe in the fresh air on your private terrace or balcony. They’ve really thought of everything including a selection of exclusive Monchique toiletries in your elegant ensuite.
Included in your stay is a plentiful breakfast buffet at Mercado Culinario restaurant. We can also add lunch or dinner to your package or you can choose to eat a la carte – there’s plenty of places to dine, including Mon-chic for fine dining, their new Pizzaria da Serra and a couple of bars open for delicious snacks and cocktails. If you’re looking for a healthy holiday there’s also a wellness menu available at each restaurant with plenty of fresh and tasty dishes.
Your private yoga sessions are led by their resident teacher within a quiet area of the hotel, usually in the spa. The teacher can adjust the sessions to suit your preferred style and to focus on any particular goals you might have during your stay. When you arrive for your first session you will chat through this and any injuries you might have to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable session.
There are also group yoga and meditation classes with can be booked for an additional 10euro per class.
Macdonald Monchique offer a fabulous selection of complimentary classes which include sunset walks, zumba, fitball, pilates and many more. The schedule changes weekly but on average they offer around 4-6 activities per day.
The nearest beach is a 20 minute drive away and the hotel can also help to arrange surf lessons too!
